Three kinds of NDIS support
Delivered a hundred ways

Community participation
Want to do more of a social or sporty, or community thing you enjoy? What about something you haven’t tried but you’re keen to have a go?
Tell us what you’d love to do. We’ll do whatever we can to make it happen.
Stuck for a place to start? Here’s an idea or five:
- Take a course or a class in something you’re curious about
- Join a club or a group of like-minded people… think gaming or gardening or a gazillion other things that don’t begin with ‘g’
- Go on holiday or just have a great day out
- See a movie, listen to live music, go to a show
- Get to grips with getting around on public transport

Find and keep a job
Need help finding a purposeful job that works for you? We’ll connect you to
- Employers and organisations who value and support you
- JSW’s famously friendly, flexible, accredited training courses, so-not-your-average youth programs and career-building jobs and skills centres
Find and keep a job for school leavers
If you’re in your final year at school or you’ve finished school and you’re under twenty-two, we’ll help you prepare for work, including getting real-life work experience.
Check your eligibility for School Leaver Employment Support (SLES) funding as part of your NDIS plan.
Eight ways we work with SLES-funded young people. Get kind, caring, expert help
- Giving career advice – so you can figure out what you’d like to do and explore options for doing it
- Creating a great resume and practising for job interviews
- Figuring out how to dress right, act right and communicate well at work
- Getting to grips with technology in general and using computers in your particular job
- Feeling confident about contributing to a team
- Asking questions and making decisions about how to do your job
- Solving problems like staying cool under pressure and resolving conflicts
- Managing your money
We don’t do ‘set and forget.’ We’ll stick with you, cheerleading and mentoring you while you find a job, then settle in and grow into it. We’re here to help you plan your long-term job future and make the most of every opportunity.
Find and keep a job for everyone else
If you’re over twenty-two and you’re keen to grow skills to a current job or find a job you’d love to do, we can help.
‘Finding and keeping a job’ (FAKAJ) funding comes under ‘Capacity building’ in your NDIS plan.
If you’re eligible for FAKAJ funding, we’ll support you in the eight ways listed above.
If your level of funding allows for it, we can also give you on-the-job support to help you settle into a new role.
If some things need to change to make your workplace safer and your job easier, we’ll partner with you, your employer and supporting government agencies to get those adjustments done and dusted.

Developing daily living & life skills
We partner with you and your support network to build your independent living skills and connect you to your community.
You choose how much or how little help you need. Here are some of the ways we help make day-to-day life easier and more enjoyable:
- Smoothing out your morning or evening routines
- Cooking, cleaning, gardening, going to the gym
- Bill paying and budgeting to build your financial confidence
- Taking public transport for work or study or doing fun stuff
- Finding your feet in new places and activities, finding new friends, or finding new ways to live life your way
I just wanted to say that Gemma is amazing
‘Very good choice you made with us being compatible. She’s nearly my right-hand lady. You surely chose a fantastic worker. You can be very confident she is doing her job well.
Gemma is thoughtful, conscientious, and hard-working, shows common sense and uses initiative. What more could I want?’
Thanks so much, Paula’ .

Meet Paula Nankiville, NDIS Manager
I’m here to create great opportunities for our NDIS participants, and JSW’s deep networks, strong community connections, and flexible, innovative training are ideal for doing this.
Over my twenty-plus years in the community sector, supporting families in crisis and young people and people with disabilities to succeed in education and employment has been at the heart of what I do.
I’ve managed workplace contracts that offered over 100 people with disabilities fulfilling work opportunities in five locations over nine years. I helped vulnerable teenagers and adults find secure housing and resolve personal and family issues that kept them from exploring and accepting training and work opportunities.

NDIS FAQ
What is NDIS?
The NDIS is the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
If you’re aged between 7 and 65 with a permanent and significant disability, NDIS funding can pay for the support you need to live your fullest everyday life and achieve your short and long-term goals.
How does NDIS funding work?
NDIS funding is calculated to meet the needs of the person applying for it.
To apply for NDIS funds, you need to meet with a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or another registered person and make a plan.
Your NDIS Plan sets out your needs and goals and determines the funding you receive. You get to review and adjust your plan as your needs and goals change.
NOTE: NDIS funding doesn’t pay for daily living expenses that people without a disability need to cover, such: as transport, rent, food, mobile phone or entertainment costs, or health or education services.
However, it can fund the support you need to access a range of community services.

Can you help me prepare for my NDIS planning meeting?
We certainly can! We’ll work with you and those who know and love you to help you prepare for your NDIS planning meeting.
We can help you by:
- Being a great sounding board for sharing your goals and dreams
- Working out what’s currently working well for you and what you’d like to change
- Helping you set goals for living as independently and as well as you can
- Figuring out the kinds of support you need to get where you want to go
- Suggesting services that may work well for you
I want to do more things for myself, can you help me?
Yes! You decide which day-to-day tasks you want to do for yourself, and we’ll help you make this happen.
You can choose to learn and practice them in a group or one on one with one of our team.
Wondering where to start with NDIS?
Right here! We’ll help you get your ducks in a row
