Catherine McGill, Training Manager
My hugely satisfying career in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector began around twenty-five years ago. After completing a Diploma of Technology (Applied Science)] as a mature-age student, South West Regional TAFE offered me a role as an Applied Science Technician.
Since then, I’ve lectured in Laboratory skills (Microbiology and Histology) and OH & S, managed international students, overseen VET in Schools programmes and managed TAFE’s commercial business.
While I’ve enjoyed every aspect of my diverse VET career, supporting and mentoring students and watching their self-confidence grow as they complete their studies is my most rewarding experience.
JSW’s workplace culture is very supportive of both staff and clients. I love that our culture and professionalism allow our students to gain a qualification and grow personally and believe in themselves. By the time they leave us, they’re ready to take on the world.
I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my two fur babies. I’m also a keen gardener and traveller. Finally, I’m also a fan of musicals and live bands.
